Harry Truman once famously said about politics – “if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”. The same could apply to celebrities – when you’re rich and famous, everyone wants a piece of you and it’s often hard to tell who really cares about you and has your best interests at heart. That may be why so many celebrities own dogs – their dogs don’t know they’re famous and dogs give them love, affection and companionship unconditionally. We’ve put together a list of some well-known public figures that are well-known dog lovers – some of these will surprise you.

Hugh Jackman – French Bulldog
This multi-talented performer has played roles as varied as Wolverine in the X-Men film series and Jean Valjean in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. He’s known as one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood and is also known as a dog lover, particularly his two French Bulldogs Dali and Peaches. He can often be seen walking his dogs (the dogs have their own raincoats and booties for inclement weather), taking them to the gym, even sitting with him in restaurants. They’re practically inseparable.

French Bulldogs are Best Known For:
Temperament – Adaptable, playful, smart

Adult Size – Under 28 pounds
